Leading distributed teams

When leading teams who aren’t in the same physical space, communication is key.

Are you:

• Using daily huddles to discuss the tasks and schedule for the day?

• Establishing clear communication expectations around email responses times, slack/chat availability, and how to and cc will be used for emails?

• Making time to meet with team members 1:1 over video chat?

Topic 2

Training while working from home

When we work in a shared office or co-located team, we often expect training will happen “organically.” New employees can ask established employees questions over the cubicle wall or a department lead can partner with a new employee to “show them the ropes.” When people aren’t in the same office, this becomes much much harder.

Take some time to consider the training needs of your employees and make a list of the skills or tasks that someone would need in order to be proficient
